It has been a year like no other. We have endured new challenges, losses, maybe even new opportunities. It is safe to say that 2020 has been a hell of a year, and it is finally coming to an end. That means that Q4 is upon us.
The other day, while speaking to a new client, he asked:
“So, how should we approach this fall?”
And the answer to that is: by setting up the scaffolding.
So, let’s say that you’ve had business practices that you’ve known for a long time but now they don’t work anymore. Maybe you don’t even have them written down, or they’re either outdated or non-existent. This is the time to put them in because no matter what happens this fall, business goes up and it goes down and holidays still happen every year.
We are, however, dealing with a new climate, where remote work is becoming the norm. Therefore, it is only natural that your business practices need an upgrade.
What Happens When You Don’t Adapt?
Updating your business practices to fit the current market and the current business climate is vital. Because you know what they say: Adapt or get left behind.
So, I told my new client:
“I’ll work with you for two months, every week – and we’ll just set them in place.”
And I will tell you what I told him:
This way you will have your scaffolding to come back to, and use as a tool kit forevermore, no matter what happens going forward. Because even if your business goes gangbusters, you will still have to replicate this at the new level or in your next location, (if you have a physical location or a virtual location) whatever it is, so – update your business practices. This is the time to do it. Update them and live by them, and then at the end of the season we can evaluate and see how they worked – do try it!
