The US – Isolated and alone?

While living in the US, for 25 years, I always had a eerie feeling of isolation. That if the US did something dumb, we’d float off on our own into an isolated island in the West. I found it hard to find world news but they were often US centric. So as much as the US has been the envy of the world for so long, it is also an Elsa. An ice queen in an ice castle, isolated and alone. That is the challenge we are facing now, to keep America part of the world community. As a triple national, and now also living in Europe, I’m invested in this. Some of my best friends are still in the New World, while I’m now watching from the Old World. While all the in-bickering is happening in the US and US government, rapid innovation is happening elsewhere. See this phenomenal TED talk with Swedish scientist Nick Bostrom on AI for example: http://bit.ly/1P1SOdn

Proudly and incidentally, Sweden was named as best country in the world to move to and raise children. But many other countries in Europe and East of West are producing mind blowing stuff. India. Japan. Germany. My point? Let’s talk about the US as a global member and take our over abundant focus off of POTUS’ every move or what’s happening blow-by-blow there. We all have equal stake in this planet’s survival. Let’s start talking about ALL of it…
